CEO of Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region resigns

HOUSTON – The CEO of Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region resigned Saturday.

Red Cross confirmed that David Brady resigned after working for the organization for several months.

Since Hurricane Harvey, the American Red Cross has been under increased scrutiny about how they distribute funds to hurricane victims.

Brady said he did what he felt was best for the organization and his community.

Brady also said he struggled with how things were being handled during Hurricane Harvey and that he wanted what is best for Texas.

The Red Cross released the following statement on Saturday:

"As always, we will continue our work alongside community, government, and local partners to provide recovery support for households whose homes were destroyed or suffered major damage and need extra help, including providing additional financial assistance.

The Red Cross has been on the ground in Texas since before Hurricane Harvey struck, and we will be there in the months to come, helping those affected to recover, and helping residents to build more resilient communities for the future."
